American Fidelity Colleague Earns Elite Designation
(Oklahoma City, OK) – An American Fidelity Assurance Company (AFA) actuary has joined the elite group of professionals who have achieved status as Fellows of the Society of Actuaries (FSA). Wes Waller passed his final exam earlier this year to receive his FSA designation
Waller has been with AFA for more than six years, and worked on his designation for seven years in group and health. He received his Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation in May of 2008 and his FSA in June of 2012.
AFA covers the cost of exams and study materials as long as the attempts at passing exams prove to be successful. The Company also provides study time.
“The degree of dedication exhibited by AFA to Colleagues’ professional and educational development as well as support within my team was and continues to be exceptional,” Waller said.
To become a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries, candidates must first achieve Associate status, which requires passing five to six exams, multiple college courses and learning modules and a final 96 hour case study. Fellow candidates go on to take an additional two to three exams that are about six hours each and require over 2,000 pages of reading. Only about 40 to 50 percent of those who take the exams pass and earn their designation.
