American Fidelity Educational Services (AFES) is ahead of the curve when it comes to providing quality supplemental insurance and investment products. In addition, we offer valuable financial services and administration solutions to make life for the educational community a little easier.

Licensed in 49 states and the District of Columbia, we maintain offices in 37 states and stand ready to meet the needs of school staff across the nation. AFES supports more than 3,900 school districts with Section 125 services as well as providing 403(b) Plan administration to 1,100 school districts, a number that grows daily.

Our Customer is central to our process. We take pride in providing a safeguard for each and every one of them though quality products and services such as our disability income protection endorsed by the National Education Association. Quality products with superior service: It's the way we do business.

Sales surpassing $76.6 million coupled with excellent return on equity and unit value growth led to the best performance in AFES history.

Such results are due in part to our commitment to control expenses. Our efficiency ratio of 39.8 percent marks the first such result under 40 percent in division history. It stands as a testament to our ability to spend wisely while strengthening the bottom line.

Another division first, revenue from our disability product exceeded $200 million. With such growth in revenue, it only stands to reason that our sales force grew in stride, hitting a record number in 2008. More than 300 account representatives bring AFES to the community.

Holding our expense ratio below budget and setting a new benchmark for net income just further supports AFES tremendous showing in 2008.

Never complacent with past success, AFES strong efforts will continue as we work toward an ambitious growth in sales for 2009. We will work to this end through expanding efforts to new states while looking to increase revenue in newly entered markets. This will be further supported by adding to our sales force.

We also look to obtain Section 125 accounts by providing 403(b) Plan administration through AF PlanServ. Sales efforts and increased offerings will propel us beyond our 2008 accomplishments, providing for strong ScoreCard results and increased net income.

As tough economic times curtail the drive of competitors within our market, AFES will continue to work closely with our associations. Our effort as partners in providing much needed financial
support and quality products will help us all to brave the economic storm.
