Cancer can be a very costly disease. Even people who do have medical insurance to help shoulder the expensive procedures and drugs that help fight cancer often overlook the indirect costs that are associated with Cancer.
The American Cancer Society estimates that the overall costs for cancer are $107 billion per year. However, hospital and medical costs represent only 35% of the total costs for the treatment of cancer*. Therefore, 65% of cancer related costs ($70 billion) are non-medical and not covered by major medical or hospital insurance policies - expenses like:

Cancer Expense Insurance Policy – American Fidelity will pay the actual charges incurred by a Covered Person for treatment of Cancer, Leukemia or Hodgkin's Disease, subject to certain maximum amounts.
